Headgate Terms of Service
Version of August 25, 2026
1. Agreement
By continuing, the ranch identified by this account agrees to these terms for using Headgate ("the Service"). If a ranch's records are managed by more than one person, whoever accepts here is representing that they're authorized to do so on the ranch's behalf.
2. Your data stays yours
Animal records, health history, financial records, photos, and every other record entered belong to the ranch that entered them. The Service exists to store and present that data back, not to claim ownership of it. Ranch data is never shared with, or made visible to, any other ranch using the Service.
3. Your responsibilities
Keep your sign-in credentials reasonably secure, and let us know promptly if access is compromised. Records entered into the Service (treatments, withdrawal periods, sale records) are working tools, not a substitute for a veterinarian's or accountant's professional judgment where one is warranted.
Alerts on a phone are a reminder of what the records say, and a phone can be switched off, out of battery, or set to keep quiet. A withdrawal date is safe to sell on because the record says so, not because an alert arrived. Voice commands are the same: what Siri writes is worth checking on the animal's own page, the way anything typed is.
4. Availability and backups
The Service is provided on an "as available" basis. While regular backups are part of normal operation, no hosted software can guarantee against every possible data loss scenario — exporting your own copy of your records periodically (available under Settings) is a reasonable practice, not a sign anything is wrong.
5. No warranty, limited liability
The Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, liability for any claim arising from use of the Service is limited to the amount paid for the Service in the twelve months before the claim arose.
6. Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way significant enough to matter, this same acceptance screen will appear again before the ranch's records can be reached. Minor clarifications may not trigger a re-acceptance.
7. Ending service
A ranch may stop using the Service at any time; exporting a final copy of your records first is recommended. The Service may suspend an account for non-payment (where applicable) or a clear violation of these terms, with an opportunity to export data first except where not reasonably possible.
